COMPULSORY ATATURK'S PRINCIPLES AND HISTORY OF THE REVOLUTION I-II COURSE EXEMPTION EXAM
(For all Faculties and Vocational Schools Students Enrolled in 2025)
Atatürk's Principles and History of the Revolution I-II courses are compulsory courses in all departments of our university's faculties and all departments of our vocational schools. An exemption exam will be offered for students admitted in 2025 who wish to be exempt from this course. Students who achieve a sufficient score on the exam will not take these courses.
The exam is graded out of 100 (one hundred). Students who score CC 60 (sixty) or higher are exempt from Atatürk's Principles and History of the Revolution I-II courses. The score received by the student replaces the grade for the exempted course and is included in the graduation grade point average. The exam score will also be valid for the required courses. Students who score below 60 points on the same exam and are not exempt from Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution I and II are required to take these courses.
The exam will examine factors affecting the Turkish Revolution in the 19th and 20th centuries. The general state of the Ottoman Empire (Reforms, intellectual movements, the Tripoli War, the Balkan Wars), the First World War (causes, beginning, and course of the war, the Ottoman Empire's entry into the war, the fronts, significant developments during the war, the end of the war, and the treaties signed at the end of the war), the Armistice of Mudros and its consequences, the occupation of Izmir, societies, the preparations for the War of Independence
(Mustafa Kemal's arrival in Samsun, the period of circulars and congresses), the declaration of the National Pact, the opening of the First Turkish Grand National Assembly, the uprisings against the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Treaty of Sèvres, the process of the War of Independence
(establishment of the regular army, the fronts and the struggles on these fronts, the Eastern Front, the Armenian Question and the Deportation Law, the Battles of İnönü, the Battle of Sakarya, the Great Offensive, the London Conference, the Fundamental Organization, the Tekalif-i Milliye The following topics will be discussed: the Armistice of Mudanya, the Treaty of Lausanne, and the following issues:
Taking the exam is not mandatory; students who wish to take it should apply to the Dean of the Faculty and the Directorate of the Vocational School with the attached petition.
Application Dates: September 15 - September 25 (until 5:00 PM)
Exam Date: Friday, September 26, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Each student will take the exam on the campus of the faculty or vocational school to which they are registered. Students of the Faculty of Health Sciences will take the exam in classrooms on the Central University Campus.
