Program Objectives
The Physical Education and Sports Teaching program aims to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of physical education and sports, enabling them to work effectively as physical education teachers in schools and other educational institutions. It also aims to train experts who support the physical development of individuals, increase awareness of healthy living, and promote a sports culture.
Program Profile
Educational and research activities are provided by 3 associate professors and 1 research assistant. Our annual quota is 40 students. The language of instruction is Turkish. The program includes compulsory and elective courses related to the field of Physical Education and Sports Teaching. Internships are completed in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the 4th year.
Graduates of the program are teachers who are well-equipped in the basic sciences of physical education and sports, knowledgeable in teaching and learning techniques, possess practical skills in various sports branches, have acquired pedagogical training, and can support the physical, mental, and social development of individuals.
Graduation Requirements
- Successful completion of compulsory and elective courses specified in the program,
- Meeting the total credit requirement (240 ECTS),
- Successful completion of internships and practical training,
- Completion of the graduation thesis or project work.
Credits and Courses
The program lasts 4 years and includes the following course groups:
- Basic science courses (anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, etc.),
- Sports science courses (sports psychology, sports management, training science, etc.),
- Educational science courses (teaching methods, educational psychology, etc.),
- Applied sports and physical education courses (various sports branches and techniques),
- Elective courses.
Internships and Practical Training
Compulsory internships and practical training are conducted in the 7th and 8th semesters throughout the program. In these internships, students observe in the school environment, develop practical teaching skills, and experience real work environments.
Practical Training
Various activities such as field studies in sports branches, laboratory applications, practicals in fitness centers, and teaching method applications allow students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge.
Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a "Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Sports Teaching" and the title of "Sports Teacher".
