Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports, PhD Student Receives TÜBİTAK Support

A doctoral thesis project conducted by Ayşegül Demir Sarıipek, a PhD student in the Physical Education and Sports Department of our Faculty of Sports Sciences and a lecturer at our university, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program. Titled "The Effect of Core Stabilization and Upper Extremity Functional Exercises on Motor Competency Levels in Individuals with Mild Intellectual Disabilities," the project aims to scientifically evaluate the effects of core stabilization and upper extremity functional exercises on motor competency levels in individuals with mild intellectual disabilities. The project is led by Lecturer Ayşegül Demir Sarıipek, with Associate Professor Hazel Çelik Güzel from our university as a researcher and Professor Nurettin Konar from Haliç University as a consultant. The findings from this interdisciplinary project in the field of sports sciences are expected to contribute to strengthening the scientific foundations of exercise programs aimed at supporting the motor development of individuals with special needs. The project also aims to contribute significantly to the literature on adapted physical activity and exercise practices, shedding light on future research in this field.
