Orientation and Information Meeting Held at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching

An orientation and information meeting for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching at the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Faculty of Sports Sciences.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Serkan Hacıcaferoğlu; Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Aydın Karaçam; Head of the Physical Education Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Büşra Süngü; department faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Özer, Lecturer Melike Bakırcı, and Research Assistant Dr. İrem Bozdağ; as well as students from the department.

Organized within the scope of the 2026-2027 academic year, the meeting provided information aimed at supporting students' academic and professional development. Explanations were given regarding course registration processes, credit and ECTS regulations, course information packages, curriculum implementation, and academic achievement requirements. Students were informed about tracking course schedules via the ScheduleX system, attendance procedures using QR codes, and attendance obligations for both theoretical and practical courses.

The meeting also focused on the conduct of "Teaching Practice" courses—which play a crucial role in helping prospective teachers gain professional experience—as well as key points to consider during the practicum process and student responsibilities. Information was shared regarding international mobility opportunities, including the Erasmus+ exchange program, partner universities, and foreign language exams, alongside details about language courses offered through the "Genç Ofis" (Youth Office). Information was provided regarding the university’s “Completely Smoke-Free Campus” policy, the rules to be observed in campus life, and the usage guidelines for the faculty’s sports facilities. Additionally, the importance of students regularly following announcements made via the faculty website and official social media accounts was emphasized.

Students were encouraged to actively participate in scientific, cultural, and athletic events, as well as conferences, that would contribute to their academic, social, and professional development.

The meeting concluded after gathering the students' views, suggestions, and requests, answering their questions, and engaging in a mutual exchange of ideas.
