The Rectorate of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University provides strong support to its academic programs in the field of accreditation. Within this scope, program accreditation activities at our university began with the establishment of the Accreditation Sub-Working Group in accordance with the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Quality Assurance Directive, dated 31 August 2020 and numbered 2020/21. Through various information and training activities, this working group has raised awareness of program accreditation.
The Working Procedures and Principles of the Accreditation Working Group were approved at the Quality Commission meeting held on 26 March 2024, and program accreditation activities have since been conducted in accordance with these principles. As part of this initiative, an Accreditation Mentoring Program was launched at the university, and a mentor was assigned to each program to provide guidance throughout the accreditation preparation process.
The mentors consist of academic staff who have served as administrators, team leaders or evaluators for national or international accreditation organizations. Under the guidance of their assigned mentors, all programs prepared their Self-Evaluation Reports in accordance with the established working schedule. Following the feedback meetings, the reports were finalized and submitted to the Rectorate Quality Commission. As a result, Self-Evaluation Reports for all programs at the university were completed in 2024.
The Mentoring Program continued in 2025. New mentors were assigned, or existing mentors were reassigned, to academic units, and the activities continued in accordance with the announced schedule and training programs.
The SPORAK accreditation preparation meetings of the Department of Coaching Education began on 30 April 2025 under the guidance of Lecturer Funda Uğurlu, PhD.
The mentor was introduced to the academic staff, and preliminary information was provided about the purpose of the meeting and the accreditation process. The activities and procedures to be conducted during the accreditation process were planned, the general framework based on the SPORAK criteria was established specifically for the department, and the subsequent steps were determined.
The activities and procedures completed following the first meeting were reviewed. The updated SPORAK Self-Evaluation Report guide was introduced, and preparations for the 2025 Self-Evaluation file were planned.
The activities and procedures planned during the first and second meetings were reviewed. The prepared SPORAK Self-Evaluation file was evaluated under the guidance of the mentor. Deficiencies were identified, and it was decided that they would be addressed before the next meeting.
Following the three meetings held during the previous academic year, SPORAK accreditation preparations continued during the 2025–2026 academic year.
The activities and procedures planned during the previous meetings were reviewed. It was decided that the 2024 Self-Evaluation Report would be published on the website and that the SPORAK 2025 Self-Evaluation Report, which was under preparation, would be completed by 21 November 2025. Examples of the examination questions and learning outcomes alignment form were also introduced. It was decided to adapt the form for the Faculty of Sport Sciences and implement it during the fall-semester midterm examinations of the 2025–2026 academic year.
It was decided to prepare the tables to be used in the 2025 Self-Evaluation Report. It was also decided that the examination questions and learning outcomes alignment form adapted for the Faculty of Sport Sciences would be uploaded to the website after being shared with the academic staff. Finally, the deadline established for the 2025 Self-Evaluation Report was reiterated, and the next meeting was scheduled.
